How Are You Represented Through Your Email Address?
We all look to making good first impressions upon meeting people whether it’s for business, dating, or interviewing. We put on our best attire, make sure we are groomed to the “T” and even practice our gestures and words. It’s a great feeling to know that you have fully prepared yourself to bring the best “You” forward in hoped for bringing something beneficial, accomplishing, and/or wholesome into your life.
So, let’s look at one small issue that may just slightly raise a eyebrow about how serious or how focused you are in your business; your email address. When I first opened up my very first email account I chose an over-the-top catchy name (that’s for another post) and used it for all my correspondence online, including job applications, subscription sign-ups, family and friends plus in forums too. I never one thought “How does this represent me?”. It was a not-so-good representer in my seriousness within business.
For instance:
Hi my name name is Jan and I own ReadyMade Graphics Inc. You can reach me at bestchicever@yahoo.com.
Not good! A better example would be:
Hi my name name is Jan and I own ReadyMade Graphics Inc. You can reach me at jan@readymadegraphics.com.
This simple additive won’t make or break you in business, but it sure will give you and edge of professionalism, seriousness, and a good look about your business and what you do.
